I was impressed by both the design and the presence of a compression fitting that accepts AWG 8 or 6 wiring on the ground side. This was great as our local hardware store doesn't have anything better than AWG 10 compression fittings. Although I'm not ready to install this on a bulkhead as the radio shack is in a temporary location pending some other work I have planned, I still do this wanted to go live. Whether this will meet demand is, of course, difficult to say. Protection, but taking into account the design and the availability of replaceable gas discharge tubes, it should. I will buy another one when I mount the HF antenna. You could pay more, but it seems just as reliable as the extra spending units.
