Technically, the adapter works as it says in the small print in the instructions, but it's very misleading online. I bought this to use with my 4k monitor and my Dell XPS 9570 laptop. As it turns out, you need to read the fine print on this unit. It only supports 4K 60Hz with computers with USB-C output with DP 1.3/1.4! At the time of this writing, Dell doesn't even make a laptop with a USB-C port and DP 1.3/1.4 Alternate Mode. This discovery really annoyed me as I paid extra for this adapter because it was advertised as 4K 60Hz. I never thought my $3800 Dell laptop wouldn't be able to play 4k 60Hz through Dell's proprietary USB-C adapter! I would not recommend this product.
