Review on DECKER Nonstick Reversible Stainless G48TD by Ricky Bedell

I cook a lot. My children help me. My old waffle maker died and I ordered this one for removable plates and while I didn't think I would use it as a frying pan, I liked the idea that I could. Also, I grew up with small square waffles, not Belgian sizes, and bought them for that. Unfortunately, this is the worst design. There is no insulation between the heating coil and the outside of the waffle maker, heating the entire outside surface to the point where thumbtacks are required for handling. Even black plastic handles get too hot for bare fingers. Metal plates protrude from the rims of the teapot, it is very easy to burn yourself on them. Once I turned it on I was honestly concerned that it was so hot it might burn my countertops. This is quite dangerous, especially if you have children to help you cook. Also, I'm not sure if our defect was defective or, like the rest of the device, it was just plain poor design, but the top plate didn't snap at all and rattled and I was able to slide it around with my hand. The bottom panel seemed to snap better, but both are held in place by a small clip. I couldn't get it back fast enough. Honestly the worst kitchen utensils I've ever bought.
