Review on Black Audio-Technica ATH-M50X Professional Grade Studio Monitor Headphones with Detachable Cable - Critically Acclaimed by Abhi Abhi (Chen Zhen ᠌

Best thing for the money, glad I did it.

For their price segment, they are really ideal headphones, and the price does not bite. If you are not afraid of the wire (and a lover of good sound should not be afraid) and you do not have any very specific requirements for sound detail (in other words, you are not an experienced sound engineer), then I definitely recommend it. Has some pros I liked the package - 3 cords of various lengths. The headphones are foldable, but at the same time assembled very well, without a hint of play - ideal for travel. The ears are very snug and comfortable - don't listen to people complaining about the weight or stiffness of the temple - you get used to the weight quickly, and the stiffness weakens with regular wear, which actually means a longer life (3-4 years without problems). As for the sound. Quite clean, pleasantly sounds music in almost all genres. Here somewhere they wrote about the effect of presence - this is straight to the point IMHO. That is, although the headphones are of a closed type, they will give odds to many open ones in terms of atmosphere and volume. Its cons: I've upgraded my Sennheiser HD 449s (very similar in specs) so I feel like the M50x has a bit too much bass, plus sometimes the mid-voices get a bit lost when listening to, say, fugues. But the rest of the frequency response is flat, so it's not a problem. Noise isolation here is passive and not the most powerful, which, of course, is sad. That is, those around you will still hear you a little at a high playback volume. That's the price range.
