Review on Plugable 7-in-1 USB Powered Hub: Convenient USB-C/USB 3.0 Power Station for Laptops - Efficient Device Charging and Data Transfer with 60W Adapter by Michael Caste

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A rare but increasingly essential USB power and data device that delivers on what it promises

OVERVIEW: 7-in-1 Pluggable USB Charging Hub with Data Transfer for USB-C or USB 3.0 Notebooks - Multiport USB Charging and Data Transfer - 60W AC Adapter MANUFACTURER: PluggableMODEL: USBC-HUB7BCINCLUDES: USB 3.0 (3.2 Gen 1) 7 port hub, USB 3.0 Type-A to Type-C converter, USB 3.0 Type-B to Type-A cable, 12V/5A power adapter with 60W total output and complies with BC 1.2 charging standards: Black with blue 5Gbps USB port speed indicators DEVICE DIMENSIONS: 5" (W) x 3" (D) 1" WARRANTY: Two years. MANUFACTURED: China. The hub is hard to find but is becoming more and more necessary. Also, I hope to help you sort out the confusing USB standards. WHY THIS USB PARTITION IS ESSENTIAL BUT HARD TO FIND. Charger. Second is USB Designed by nature to transfer data from one USB device to another, some devices need to perform both functions: receive power over USB and transmit data over USB at the same time. around a USB hub that can actually do both, you'll find that almost neither of them work well. They may have ports that only charge data or only transmit data, but not both. Or, if they have Powered Data capability, it's limited to a maximum of one or two ports. Or the charging speed and capacity are limited. It is extremely rare to find a device that has more than two powered USB data ports and can power all of those ports at the same time. This plug-in has seven powered data ports. It also has 60W of power to power all seven ports at once, not just a few at once, which is a hidden flaw with some other hubs. I can't stress enough how difficult it is to find a USB hub that can do all of these things. , and at a reasonable price. My "example": I bought my son an Arturia keyboard with a MIDI controller that uses USB to both power the keyboard and transfer data to his computer to run the Digital Audio Workstation software to control. This device required a power and data connection so that it could power the keyboard while transferring data over a single USB connection. Finding funding for this turned out to be a lot harder than I thought. This plug-in USB hub was one of the few USB hubs that could do the job and also support a few of my son's other devices that shared the same power and data needs. In short, if you have such a need, this pluggable USB hub saves lives. Other thoughts… PRO+ 7 fully powered, USB 3.0 data transfer (AKA USB 3.2 Gen 1, see Type-C+ converter) Stackable with other USBC-HUB7BC+ plug-in hubs Connectable as the company seems sincere about improving the product class want + Two year warranty MEH* USB 3.0 is two generations behind (and it will be three generations soon when USB 4.0 comes) but it will still support the vast majority of USB devices as 10 and 20Gb Device/s are still rare and yet most are able to slow down to fit the hub's speed limits * A USB-C port or two in the hub would make this even better and more useful * The Power Brick is quite the same size as a hub * Although it's designed in the US, it's made in China. Conductive and lightweight so it doesn't have much force to stay in place. p USB is a mess. It's full of confusing standards, poorly named ports, and complete misfires in port/port design. The new USB-C ports and connectors are finally a step in the right direction, as they aren't top or bottom, allowing cables and devices to be plugged in however you like. This plug-in hub comes with a converter that allows you to connect the hub to a USB-C port on your computer. flat side up. The plug-in hub comes with a USB-A to USB-C converter cable to use the USB-C port on your computer or other device. Connect to a device such as a USB printer or other larger device. The Plugable Hub has one of these as a port on the back of the hub to connect to your computer. Navigate the Frauenhafen. You see this connection on the ends of flash drives and most USB devices released in the last 20 years. The Plugable Hub has seven of these ports on the front with light blue ribs indicating USB 3.0 compatibility and speed. There are other types of connectors, including the even more impressive mini and micro USB connectors, but this is different. Review. Far more confusing than male/male types is the ridiculously useless baud rate naming convention adopted by the USB consortium to complicate things. Here's what you need to know if you're having trouble negotiating the data rate: USB 1.0 and 2.0 are older standards with lower data rates, but this hub should be backward compatible with them. Currently, all USB 3.X ports are called 3.2, but with different generations. The ability to transfer data at up to 20 Gb/s is called USB 3.2 Gen. 2x2 and has a red connector tab. The data transfer capacity of up to 10 Gbps was known as USB 3.1 Gen 2 but is now called USB 3.2 Gen 2 and has a turquoise connector tab. The data transfer capability up to 5Gbps was called USB 3.1 Gen 1 or USB 3.0 but is now called USB 3.2 Gen 1 and has a blue connector tab color. Plugable refers to the ports on this hub as 3.0 (max speed 5Gb/s) but they are now called USB 3.2 Gen 1, so if you have a device that requires a minimum transfer rate of 5Gb/s or USB 3.1/3.2 Gen 1, it should work with this hub. If your USB device cannot go from 20Gb/s or 10Gb/s to 5Gb/s, it will not work with this hub. However, MOST faster USB devices CAN be retired, but before you buy this hub, check if you really need a 3.2 Gen 2 or Gen 2x2 device to work with it. SUMMARY For me, this is an essential device that has saved me completely. Everyone needs a USB charger, more ports for more devices, and some of us need those ports to do everything at once. If you have such needs, you definitely need this Plugable USBC-HUB7BC. Highly recommended.
