Bought the small size for the cat. Depending on where you want to place the door, this is not a project for beginners. Always start your projects with a goal in mind. Please imagine going through each step and anticipating potential problems before you make a big hole in your home. I found a good spot with a stud on one side and cut a hole in the drywall using a jigsaw and level. I then used the instructions on the box to figure out where to cut a hole in the exterior stucco wall. To do this I used an angle grinder with a diamond disc and a jigsaw with a grout removal attachment. It was not easy. Then insert both halves into the holes and see how the finished project will look like. Make sure the door is level and then use the holes on the door to make 8 screw holes. Remove doors and drill holes. I did not use any of the included snap screws or bolts. On the outside plaster I used stone studs and on the inside I had screw-in studs so I used 2 1/2" wood screws. Use a hammer drill and carbide drill bits to drill through plaster. Telescopic part of the door if you have larger animals! I can only tell at first glance that the plastic it is made of is too thin to support its weight Please remember that you are cutting a hole in your home and the idea of an energy efficient pet door is basically a one off Oxymoron is so do what you like can hold cold air make sure the insulation around the tunnel is as full as possible from the outside around the door use a good quality exterior sealant if your door at any point exposed to direct sunlight, make sure your seal doesn't discolour or crack in the sun.With that in mind, this door works great and looks great! I just need to touch up the edge a bit and replace some of the moldings and it's done! PS removal from molded parts was not included in this project. I noticed water damage while cutting the drywall and had to replace the entire section and remove the molding before installing the pet door.
