Review on Razer Tartarus Gaming Keypad Analog Optical Computer Accessories & Peripherals by Micha Sawecki ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Didn't quite buy it well, had a little trouble using it.

By the appearance of the device, it may seem that they paid great attention to ergonomics and everything is super convenient, it will immediately fall into your hand and it will be wow. But the reality is completely opposite - the keyboard was made from the point of view of ergonomics . there are no censorship words. I've been using it for a week and have yet to get used to it. Very insecure play with the top row of buttons, not great with all the others. I'm thinking of putting on other mouthguards so that at least some kind of tactile difference appears and it is easier to find the buttons by touch, but here also low-profile mouthguards and ordinary mouthguards immediately stick out awkwardly. The block of buttons is located non-standard, without a shift, which is probably why such problems are addictive. on most keyboards, the rows of buttons are shifted. Well, here the calculation is apparently on a large palm - mine is uncomfortable to stretch. The lack of a tactile difference exacerbates the problems - as a result, I have already played quite a few hours, but so far I have not been able to get used to the controls A separate song and proof that ergonomics was not only not done - it was apparently specially spoiled - this is a gap. It is necessary to reach straight up to it and it is categorically inconvenient to press it down. As a result, instead of a space on this button (20), I hung Esc, which I "forgot" to add to this keyboard on a regular basis. Spacebar and a couple of other buttons outweighed on the cross. So you can at least somehow use it, otherwise the device would go to the mezzanine or ebay at once. Separately, the lack of memory is annoying - I want to set it up once and remove the garbage from the autoload, but no, the size is not the same, and here he saved half a dollar on an overpriced piece of iron. Two positions for triggering buttons - I didn’t even try. With such problems of ergonomics, when it would be easy to hit the button in the heat of battle, it’s not even worth talking about any half-press. Razer takes advantage of the fact that there are no analogues on the market from brands left, only Chinese with clicky switches and incomprehensible customization. While I'm trying to get used to it, suspicions are growing that I will still have to sort out the Chinese, so tarturus does not fit in my hand.

Pros
  • Good customization in the software - you can set up many different binds, I needed to move the mouse and it can be done. The backlight can be adjusted very flexibly. Overall tactile quality - approx. There is no feeling of absolutely and Chinese. The presence of an additional wheel and a cross (which partially solves the problems of the original ergonomics).
Cons
  • What you do not expect in any way - ergonomics is just a bottom and a shame. It is not clear under what hand it was designed. The upper block of the key is categorically inconvenient to press, the "space" - in principle, it is not clear for which mutant this was done. Wrist rest - yes, it has two positions. Both are uncomfortable. It would have been better without the stand. There is only one risk on the "S" key (number 13) - all the rest are tactilely the same, it did not work out for the first week, despite the fact that the block itself is located non-standard. On trifles - there is no memory (Karl!) You must always keep the Razer softocombine in autoload.
