I bought them to run on a dual socket ATX board (not SSI-CEB and not even "E-ATX") LGA2011-3, X10DRL -i from Supermicro to use. I contacted Noctua to inquire about the options and they gave me this and one other (92mm fan) option. They even informed me that the dual 92mm fans can only work front to back, not top to bottom. I figured a larger single fan would be close by. thermal performance (maybe better) and definitely quieter than 2x92mm. Assembly was very easy, I had an old NH-D14 that I used on a Sandy Bridge E HEDT chip a while ago and it was just as easy. Very quiet and I had no problem installing 2 of these in a very tight base spacing. Even with both 2660v3 (10c/20t) CPUs in Prime95 (which generates viral-level heat), the hottest core with those coolers never got past the mid-50s (Celcius) in my r5 fractal design, which houses all the disk bays The rims are packaged to obstruct the intake and two 140mm intakes at 1000rpm and another as an outlet at the rear. Mega impressed with Noctua customer service, quality, volume and temperature. I ended up buying Noctua fans everywhere for my server as did my other two rigs, definitely did my business, a bit more expensive but they do good stuff and it was worth what I paid.
