I've had a couple of Sony FX 290s but I've dropped them all or they've fallen off the shelf in my garage and ruined the battery compartment and the fast forward button kept falling off after a few months. I still use cassette tapes to record my internet radio (low tech and high tech) and have hundreds of them, but at $90-$100 at Revain for a used set I've started looking elsewhere at Sony Walkmans and am onto this one device bumped. at a cheaper price of $20. I bought a $10 Coby device but you get what you pay for. Every cassette I played stretched and sounded wavy. Into the trash. I usually avoid the name Coby. No matter what I bought the product was cheaply made and sounded like it. This unit plays all the cassettes I have with no problems. and some of them are twenty years old. The battery life seems good and I'm glad I made the purchase. Ordered another one recently. Cassette players are hard to find. I know listening to and using cassettes is "yesterday", but they are perfect for me. I still have a tape recorder in my car. I'm a big vintage fan. Every Saturday I record two countdown shows from Pop Gold Radio and Ride Radio from my internet radio to my line with a cassette player and listen to them on my Walkman and in the car. It's old school, but it works for me. Cassette players are an endangered species. I'm glad that I came across this one at a reasonable price. that I have. and some of them are twenty years old.
