I bought it because of the USB ports and the orientation of the sockets. All of them can be used with small power supplies. It is more convenient to use. I use this strip to charge a range of electronic devices and also to power my external battery. Doesn't get hot, and even with multiple ports, I don't see any drop in performance on any of my devices, even a particularly sensitive light table that tends to flicker with other USB ports. We have many things that need charging. Batteries for RC cars (uses USB), walkie-talkies, phones, etc.
