I have been using the 3M Filtrete 3US-MAX-F01 water filter for many years. CULLIGAN US-DC3 is comparable to a 3M filter. Both filter out chlorine, particulate matter (0.5 microns), cysts and lead. The difference is that the 3US-MAX-F01 has a capacity of just 1,500 gallons while the US-DC3 has a 4,750 gallon capacity. This is more than three times the capacity of the 3M filter. The Culligan may be cheaper since its replacement filter is $60, while I typically buy the 3US-MAX-F01 for $25 ($75 for a 4500 gallon capacity). Manufacturers recommend changing Culligan every year and 3M every 6 months. I never followed the recommendation for 6 months. I change my 3M filter every year. I use a separate cold/hot water faucet/dispenser for this because if you connect it directly to the cold water outlet line in the kitchen you will quickly ruin the filter and you won't get a good flow through the kitchen faucet. My undersink water filter is also powered by the undersink tankless water heater tank which feeds into the hot/cold faucet/dispenser.
