Noticeably faster i7-6700, which it replaced, plus two more cores and only six cores. Good price. Great for those who go about their daily activities on their PC and mainly work with Microsoft Office and other core applications and games. Of course, if you are interested in video encoding or applications that benefit from multithreaded tasks, Ryzen can offer you the best value for money. But when it comes to gaming, it's faster than the Ryzen 3600 and even surpasses it in some "benchmark tests", so it was the best processor for my use case: MS Office, video conferencing, very light video editing and GAMES. It doesn't overclock, but that's ok. You can keep using the z490 motherboard's fast memory and get a noticeable performance boost. With a low TDP of 65W, it runs super cool and keeps the turbo going until the cows come home.
