I bought this after much research as a welcome upgrade to my venerable GF1 (2010). I've heard a lot about the GX9 so I've argued between them, but I think I made the right choice. The build quality is fantastic - solid and heavy, comfortable to hold all day and stable. Furthermore, the OLED viewfinder doesn't say anything about the fact that taking pictures is a pleasure when looking into this great thing. Bright and big, it helped me with my composition. The menus are a dizzying array of functions as this camera has so many features but they are intuitive - I just need to learn more about the camera - I will say it is definitely NOT for beginners. With my Panasonic 12-35mm lens, the video is excellent and the pan and filter functions are interesting and useful. I didn't find the battery life particularly short, although some reviews say otherwise - I was able to shoot all day without draining the battery. It helps that this battery is also used in my fz200 superzoom so I didn't have to buy it separately. Depending on the weather, I had no problems wearing it in a light drizzle. All in all, this is a great investment if you're looking for a great all-round professional camera and camcorder without the bulky DSLR.
