Child protection for more safety

So, like all parents, I've tried all the ways to keep closets safe from children, and I've even come up with a few of my own. These are rolled up boxes for snacks or power cords. I tried the ones with springs and soon my son discovered that the slight movement of his body when pulling would cause the spring to break. Of course you can screw the panels to your cabinets, but the weakest link is the lever. So I went to every major hardware store in the area and couldn't believe the magnet prices. I came here and found something to try. So I cleaned the area I was going to stick them to and for the most part the adhesion was good. On the other hand, my son discovered at the age of 1.5 that body weight can overcome the glue when jerking off. I then used the supplied self tapping screws and for the most part they worked great. I say mainly because my wife didn't know that I fixed the cabinet and pulled them very hard and of course ripped them out of the wood. A bit of wood putty fixed the holes and I moved them around a bit but I'm very happy with their work. I would suggest that the more magnetic keys you get with your purchase, the happier you will be. I bought a second batch as I have a couple of cabinets in my garage and thought it would be wise to check those out as well. Glue works for the cubs, but as they get stronger and smarter you may need to consider securing them permanently.

Pros
  • Absolutely brilliant!
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine
