This simple USB A to C cable is used to charge new devices (with reversible Type-C connector) from PCs, legacy chargers and universal chargers. USB ports. Unfortunately, this cable fails the "Check-R" application, indicating it lacks the proper resistors to limit power draw from older charging sources. A lack of adequate resistance can seriously damage equipment and usually means unreliable (variable) charge rates as well. Cables that didn't meet the specification were a big problem for USB-C adoption. For details, search for "Benson Leung," a Google engineer who systematically tests USB-C cables (and maintains the USB-C FAQ on Google+). Use products that contain cables. Unfortunately, the supplier of this cable seems to suffer from the same issues as many other standard USB A-to-C cables. As this is clearly not to specification, it is not recommended.
