I did a lot of research to keep your plates and bowls from rattling or moving when towing our camping trailer. It came down to the holders that put the plates upright while standing, and here are these. Several things made me make this purchase. First, the stand up style means I need over 11 inches to slide the plates in and out as dinner plates are that size, then add the holder and clearance needed to slide them out. As you can see from the photos, our closets would get very cramped and I definitely didn't want to take up space in a tiny plate pantry. Second bowls. You see a lot of "tall" plate holders, but not exactly the same for bowls. If I somehow found a vertical bowl holder, imagine the space that would have to be taken from side to side to accommodate even 6 bowls. Where space is at a premium and every inch counts I should have considered going 7.5 inches and being able to stack them high rather than 12 inches or more side by side for the same number of shells and then not being able to use dead space . about clumsy bowls. Finally, I didn't like the idea of placing the slabs in such a way that they are too heavy and more likely to fall off. It became an easy choice to capture her. Please note that we use Coreleware. Just food for thought, but plastic melamine is NOT microwavable. Certainly a bit of a waste as a cockatiel, but at the cost of nasty cancer causing plastic in my stomach or not being able to use the microwave, no thanks. We don't add layers of paper towels or padding between plates and bowls and they move GREAT in these trays. What I like: They come with a sticky liner that attaches down the center of the bottom. Even if you don't level your cabinets, they're willing to do their job of staying in place. We've added linings for extra support making them extremely durable. You don't move. I really like the depth of the cymbal holder. Notice how many plates we've stacked on top of each other, and there's still room for a larger serving platter. All of this is secure and has NEVER been touched or moved in all of our travels. We had some bumpy rides on back roads, lots of railroad crossings and the occasional "Where's that dent coming from?". I like the hardness of the plastic. They're designed to last in an era where we're making things cheaper so people have to buy them again. What I wish has been changed for better use: the bowl holder is on the short side as the bowls are of course taller. Our shells protrude over the top of the holder and we weren't sure how that was going to happen. Nothing moved, but I didn't want to add extra shells to the holder. I want Camco to consider one more important thing: let's buy them separately. I needed 1 plate holder, 1 bowl holder and 1 the same size as the small plate bowls. I had to buy 2 sets to get what I wanted and now I have an extra cymbal holder that I will never use and I paid a premium. That didn't make me very happy. Desk space is just as valuable as storage, and these smaller plates come in handy for odd walk-in items that don't take up 11 inches. Overall we are very pleased with the build and quality of these mounts and are glad we went that direction over using the vertical type.
