As only a few of the shutters in my house had faded (to varying degrees) and I could no longer buy an exact replacement I was faced with the question of replacing them all or looking for a product which can restore the color . I read great reviews about this product and decided to give it a try. I cleaned the shutters with cleaning solution and wiped down with steel wool (you'll need more than they give). Then I applied the product like I would paint shutters and you wouldn't notice the color coming back right away. You look brand new. I don't know how long it will take, but I'm very satisfied. I would like to point out that this is a labor intensive project between soaking, brushing, rinsing and applying the Renu solution. If I had to do it all over again I would probably remove the shutters from the house first rather than doing everything on the extension ladder. Replacement bolt locks are cheap and it would be much nicer and faster if I did it that way.
