Review on Enhance Your Bathroom with the Ginsey Standard Toilet Chrome Hinges by Moises Dzihic

Revainrating 3 out of 5

My third time - hope it's nice

Since 2001 this is the third toilet of this model from Ginsey that I have purchased. The weak point are the chrome hinges. you break. Neither my spouse nor I weigh over 150 pounds so we're not pushing the seat or the hinges to their limits, but the hinges last about five years and then break. You also get a lot of corrosion on them. Ginsey does not offer replacement hinges on its website. As for the seat itself, the lower bumpers, where they're bonded to the seat, catch and hold back urine splashes from the bowl. This will turn the seam yellow. Because the seat is clean, you can see the yellow. In the past I've taken the unit off and sprayed bleach on it to get rid of the stain (you'll have to remove it as the underside of the seat can't be sprayed once it's in place). This time I covered the seams with clear nail polish hoping that would prevent staining. Why do I keep buying the same seat over and over again? Our toilet is from 1917 and is an odd size: Lowe's doesn't have a seat that fits our bowl. And I like the look.

Pros
  • Custom designed toilet seat for standard size bowls
Cons
  • Requires electrical outlet
