I know, you really shouldn't tow the max capacity of things, but I did use this hitch to tow 10,000lbs and did so without any problems. I've also used the hook on several occasions with a tow strap to pull and/or stabilize a few heavy objects. It fits perfect in my 2" receiver at the back of my chevy silverado. I have no complaints. It's heavy and well made and the lock comes in pretty handy. I definitely feel that it is secure with that lock (never mind that there are other easier ways to steal a trailer if you really wanted to. I've had locks on my hitch in the past, and they've rusted and been difficult to lock and unlock after some time. the reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because the locking mechanism is a little fiddly. Once it's on, it's on, but it does take some fiddling to lock or unlock it. Otherwise, this is a good choice.
