Let me start by saying that I'm a graduate student and I think I'm pretty smart. I'm also an artist. I have never embroidered, crossed, knitted or crocheted. I bought it to have fun and be productive at the same time. I opened the kit and it doesn't come with instructions on how to assemble the hoop with fabric. I figured it out in the end, but the main thing, I didn't know how to tighten it tightly, which will be relevant later. The second problem is that the yarn is too thick for the eye of the needle and breaks into 6 strands. I ended up having to use wax to get it through. There are no instructions how to tie yarn. I didn't know whether to use knots or not. I tied a knot at the end of the thread. There is an image of the color to use that has conflicting information. This will say "4th" color or "1st" color for the same part of the flower. The actual stitches are shown with pictures and very poor English but easy enough to understand. However, once I really started, it was incredibly difficult to get the eye of the needle through the fabric. So much so that my hand got tired after a stalk. I asked my husband to try it and he said something was wrong. Then I realized that the tire might be too tight. It was. That helped a bit, but the fabric is too thick for the size of the needle and thread. The patterns themselves are also very subtle, especially in the leaves, for someone who is a true beginner. I find that the fabric and threads smell very awful. Paint by number idea for beginners is great, it's just not family. I will get a higher quality kit which will be nice.
