Bought this to contain my dog who is watching outside to bark at people walking by , but also let my plants get enough light. It was fairly easy to cut and install on smaller windows. I don't have a ruler for some reason so I used blue masking tape to measure my windows and cut out pieces to the exact size. The instructions tell you to give extra space, but to be honest it makes things harder. It took forever to install on my large window trying to line up the pattern. With a lot of effort I still screwed it up but it's not too noticeable due to the way my plants are positioned. Don't try to fix it. It looks good and seems to be doing its job well. I don't think we're getting the right angle of light to have a rainbow in the room, but I don't mind. I love that we now have a lot more privacy so people can't peek into our living room from the street (except to see the ceiling).
