Hello, my puppy was rescued from Mexico and he was very malnourished. The vet told me that the non-grain food was indeed problematic due to heart issues. I also found that when the dog poops, it doesn't provide enough fiber to empty the anal glands. My dogs that aren't on a grain diet start running away and then it causes ulcers that can easily become infected. I started cooking brown rice and adding it to canned food (NOT THIS PRODUCT) and after a few days the problem was gone. IT SAID. With this meal, I no longer need to add extra rice because it's there. A few days later my puppy started gaining weight after I fed it to him. Hope that helps.
