I have tried r6i, x6i, xr8i, x12i sound except x20i which is out of my budget. I'm not an audiophile. I only pick what seems cool enough to me. r6 seems perfectly normal without much fuss. x6 is pretty cool - the sound is clear and bright. When I tried the xr8i on boy was I impressed. I personally like bass. It wasn't overly strong, which I don't think is good for my eardrums on prolonged listening, but instead it feels warm and bouncy. I believe the x6 and xr8 use the same drivers except the latter has an additional bass driver and is thus a hybrid. I didn't pay much attention to the x12i as I thought I'd made up my mind. I remembered them sounding crisp and excellent, but I still prefer the bass. Design wise, although the xr8i are the largest of the bunch, I have no problem with them fitting my ears well and being comfortable. I've tried other IEM brands and sometimes they hurt if I listened for a long time. Somehow I didn't like the design of x6i and x12i. One looks like any other pair of headphones, while the other is shaped like a banana that can snap in two if hit hard. The Xr8i has that metal body that looks good and is solid. In the end it's just a personal preference.
