Sorry for the typos and any grammatical errors and image confusion, I'm still figuring out the best way to set things up. This is my day 1 cell experience. Compared to the previous cage I would say it is the same material value and I would say its fair value should be closer to $70. So it's a bit pricey and takes a long time to build, so I'm deducting a star for that reason. Quick Pros: Deep Burrow Containers! Connects to Ferplast and GNB tubes Extra bar Feeder is fine Small shelter Large opening to access the cage without disassembling it. Transparent bottom to see any tunnels your hamster has made near the sides. Fast Cons: The small noisy wheel needs to be replaced with a bigger wheel. The water bottle is made of soft plastic and slides into the holder. I still had to clean it but I think cleaning will be a lot of work. It takes a ton of litter to fill, but doesn't need to be changed too often either (you may notice a change.) The length and width of this cage is slightly less than the recommended minimum for a hamster. It's best to have extra pipes or a second cage to explore. This cage is definitely a pre-made trash can cage (please search DIY trash can cages online for more information). The bottom is made of the same material as the plastic basket, a softer plastic than a harder one. I don't know if that's a plus or a minus. I decided to drill some small (1/32) air holes along the bottom as it's deep and I'm paranoid about the hamster getting air into the bottom. The plastic was easy to work with to drill holes, so that's a plus. But when you do this, also make sure there isn't any material left that could snag on the hamster, and all the pieces should be tiny so they never get caught in your hands. Cage assembly instructions are shown as pictures only. Some parts may not assemble correctly, so be very careful when looking at the photos and aligning everything correctly. The cost of this cell maybe a bit high. I paid way too much for it, of course, but I also wanted a big box that our hamster could burrow into without having to laboriously make one out of a trash can. So if you just want to skip the design phase and go straight to assembly, this is a good choice. Although washing and reassembling these parts will still take some time. We have 3 cages in our house and only the smallest animals were in them. We started with mice using GNB PET Hamster Cage DIY Habitat. It was a great mouse cage and had enough tubes in it but not enough to really do a lot of things in or around the cage. We bought 2 mouse expansion packs and it was really enough. great bathing action for her. After our mice died, we decided on a dwarf hamster. It's the same size as mice, so tubes are great for that. He can even turn around in them, so they fit his very small size well. Due to the large footprint and a good 4" deep bed, we initially settled on the Favola hamster cage, which is 23.6" long by 14.4" wide. Width and 11.8" high. We wish he did would be a bit larger and this cage would have a very small opening to access it which made it difficult to work in unless the top was completely removed but it connects fine to GNB pet hoses so this was one great cage.As a young hamster our toddler mostly avoided our hamster tubes so sadly we haven't offered them to him for a long time.Not realizing the importance of dens and space for such a small creature we made this cage about a Used alone for a year. I think hamsters won't start digging until the litter is more than 6" wide and are much more comfortable with a litter closer to 11" to dig. Our hamster runs hectic at night I'm around and probably bored. I introduced the tubes and got him a third set. He seemed to be adjusting to the tubes very well by this point, but I could still hear him trying to burrow into the bottom of the cage as if trying to burrow. I think this Duna cage is relatively new to the market but I'm not sure. When I saw that I said hey... why not let's give it a try. So I am very happy to give our little friend the opportunity to dig. As soon as I set up the cage and connected it with hoses to the previous cage, he immediately took an interest in it and spent a lot of time researching. Today he looks like he too is sleeping happily in this new cage. I replaced the wheel with a super quiet Niteangel Small. The Niteangel is pictured in a cage, but I've included a picture to show the difference between a 5.5" wheel and an 8.6" wheel. The reason for choosing a larger exercise wheel, especially if you have a large hamster, is for his back. If a hamster's back twists while running, it can be very bad for him. Find out which wheel size works best for your hamster. This cage will not fit a 10" wheel on a stand. It could hold a 10" wheel if it could be paired with a crossbar on the side. The water bottle is very difficult to handle and doesn't fit like our little hamster loves. (Luckily we have another bottle for him to visit.) As it's made of soft plastic, you have to be very careful when you put it in the holder because if you press on it, the water will spurt out. If you're just buying this cage, you'll probably want to get a different water bottle as well. Right now I'm planning on using a small shelter for his sand bath, but I have a few other designs that can be swapped out to hold him. Boredom. All in all, as I really enjoy building structures with pipes and our hamster at least likes to spend time exploring them these two link cages make a great pair as I didn't want to mess around. DIY design. If you're looking for a basic deep hamster cage I'd say this will do, but be aware that some parts are better thrown in the trash or reused, such as the wheel. This cage has a smaller overall footprint. So unless you are planning on buying a second run for your hamster I would recommend getting lots of extra tubes like GNB as they have parts to make small spaces out of it and give your hamster a good pet, long way to run.
