Review on Cocoweb Classic Mahogany Bronze Adapter by David Batte

Use these 14 inch portholes to illuminate two large vertically oriented paintings (see photo). I like the design. My frame shop had no problem matching the frame to the color (mine is matte black) of the lighting system. Assembly was fairly easy and the instructions were fairly easy to follow except that the mounting pattern provided in the instructions is not for a 14" light. If you're buying a 14" you'll need to take some measurements to get it right, but it's pretty easy to do. Overall, this is a decent lighting system with dimmer control located on the right under the lampshade. Due to the vertical orientation of my works and because they are large (58" top to bottom), the light does not reach the bottom of the work. The lampshade tilts up and down and the brackets are also adjustable , so I was able to fix this but haven't had the time to do so yet due to renovations.This unit comes with a dimmer switch which is normally placed behind the artwork/image so keep in mind you may need to reach behind the artwork to to adjust the lamp brightness This was not a problem for me as I intend to keep the same settings and de n dimmer probably will not use much. The biggest disadvantage for me is the missing remote control. Due to the size of my paintings, I have to extend a ladder to get to the on/off switch. This wouldn't be a problem if I was lighting small objects since they would hang at about eye level. Overall I am very happy with these lights. They have an elegant design and easily fit into any interior style, from traditional to modern. LED lamps do not heat up the artwork, which helps preserve the paintings over time. These are LED lamps and they emit a slightly white light characteristic of LEDs. That's fine, because the lighting should draw your attention to the artwork as you enter the space. These lights do, but they're not strong. I am happy with my purchase so far.
