Review on Petstages Catnip Dental Chew Wheel Toy For Cats by Matthew Shankar

Not Durable for Chewing

My kitten is teething and loves to bite and chew on anything, so I bought a couple teething toys for him. While he absolutely loved this toy, we were very dissapointed by how easily it feel apart, especially as a toy that markets itself as a teething toy designed to be chewed. My kitten chewed off and presumably swallowed the fabric peice within the first day of playing with the toy, but because he loved it so much we cut off the fabric and let him chew on the rubber teething wheel. After a few days I noticed chunks missing from the wheel that he was able to bite off! I'm hoping he didn't swallow much of it, but he probably would have eaten the whole thing little by little if I didn't take it away. This teething toy might be very suitable for much younger kittens or kittens who are less destructive, but my lil guy is a big chewer so I have since purchased other teething toys made of much thicker durable rubber, and would encourage any pet parents of heavy chewers to also avoid this toy.

Pros
  • Provides a way for cats to release pent-up energy
Cons
  • The toy may be too hard and cause damage to cats' teeth
