Bad fit, bad leak for caps

I got this to replace the gas cap on a 2011 Town and Country that is listed as a compatible vehicle. My old gas cap still works, but the cable that attaches it to the car broke and it hurt me to hold it while filling up. Installing this new gas cap was very easy, but after a few turns the cap started to wobble a lot, both side to side and up and down, which immediately made me suspicious. The problem was not long in coming. Just 24 hours later, maybe 3 rides later, my check engine light came on with code P0455. This code indicates a SERIOUS leak in the evaporator system. I used to have station attendants who wouldn't close my gas cap and I've never seen that happen. Typically, a loose or leaking/faulty gas cap will result in a P0456 code, which represents a SMALL leak in the evaporator system. This is just to show how poorly made this product is. The old cap had to be returned. This cap is bad for the car and degrades fuel and vaporizer performance which will also likely cause the car to fail the test if I leave it installed. Although I've only used it around town and in the country, I didn't expect it to perform better on other vehicles. It has extremely poor tolerability.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Too long to wait
