I recently replaced my Sony TV with a new LED LCD TV from Samsung and wanted to enjoy 1080 HDTV in all its glory so I'm due the player bought a PlayStation 3 Slim Blu-ray and its hard drive for storage. Unfortunately, the PS3 doesn't have an IR receiver, so I needed a way to convert the IR signal from my Harmony 880 remote to Bluetooth to control the PS3 Slim. Sign in to your Logitech Harmony IR to Bluetooth Adapter. I connected the adapter to a power source, started the PS3 Slim, followed the instructions that came with the appropriate PS3 Slim menu item to pair the new device, and pressed the connect button on the bottom of the adapter. It was connected immediately without incident. I then updated my Harmony configuration with the PS3 Slim as a new device and created a new activity on the remote to control it. I sent the Harmony 880 to PS3 Slim and it worked great. It even turns the PS3 Slim on and off, and it's much easier to use the standard DVD control buttons on the remote than trying to use the PS3 Slim's game controller to watch movies - navigating through menus, selecting, pause, skip forward/backward to next/previous chapter marker movie, eject disc when finished. I'm not really into gaming, so I'm trying to remember which controller button (Triangle, Circle, X, Select, Play, PS, Color buttons, various other buttons) did what by trial and error since there aren't any enlightening too many in the PS3 Slim manual was really annoying. If you have a Harmony IR remote, I highly recommend trying this adapter. Also, to avoid potential problems, I recommend connecting your PS3 Slim to a broadband internet connection so that you can update your firmware to the latest version. My new PS3 Slim was made just a few months ago and the new update is now available. I also made sure my Harmony 880 remote had the latest software when I added the new PS3 Slim. I've only been using the adapter for a week, but so far it's working perfectly.
