I have been using these cartridges since I got my Laserjet P4014n about 4 years ago. In that time I have printed over 50,000 pages. I get at least 12,000 printed pages per cartridge. The cartridge is rated for 10,000 printed pages, so I get more. I think there is an alternative cartridge rated at 20,000 pages, but it costs about twice as much, so there is no financial benefit there. And I think you should be able to use the cartridge within a year or less of opening and installing it. Of all the laser printers I've had over the years, this printer is the best and this cartridge prints the most pages. It's also the most expensive cartridge of any Laserjets cartridge to date, but I think the "cost per page printed" is probably the lowest of them all. For people who don't print 10,000 pages with this cartridge, I'm not sure what they print. This printer and cartridge are designed for people who print many pages of black and white text.
