This pad was used to apply stain to new wooden floors. Compared to a frayed area, it is more durable, but the color is a little less saturated. Since I had a lot of flooring I decided to use the hood on the second layer of stain. You pour a small amount of stain directly onto the center of the cap and begin buffing using slow, deliberate circular motions. The only key to applying stain this way is good blending. Since the buffering speed is faster than manual trapping, the edges are quite pronounced. I usually smooth the edges once the hood stains are gone, or wipe the transitions with a rag. Overall it saved a lot of time compared to the towel.
