Review on ๐Ÿ” Exploring the Versatility of Siglent Technologies SDS1202X Oscilloscope Channels by Adam Rogers

A good oscilloscope will be your right hand man - that's mine

I had a nearly 30 year old surplus Tektronix 475 200MHz dual channel oscilloscope that died a year ago. I opened it and tried to fix it to no avail. Eventually it became clear that if we fixed this we would be spending about the same as buying this Siglent scope, we still had a 30 year old scope that could die at any moment and we decided to a modern digital vision to buy. I did a lot of research online between Rigol, this one and others and settled on this one. I fixed a few things and tested the oscilloscope with a good signal generator and found it to work very well. Remember that 200MHz means a 3dB drop in an oscilloscope, not that you can't see higher frequencies, so I tested it at 500MHz. I could easily observe my oscillator's signal, although the displayed amplitude was lower. This is normal for some levels of troubleshooting. Yes, there are some things it doesn't do as well as my old 475, notably I didn't manage to display the modulated AM envelope correctly, but other things revolve around Tek: sweeping individual events, summing multiple tracks, and (of course) saving screenshots to a flash drive. And to be honest, I don't watch AM often enough to get excited. I especially like that it weighs nothing compared to the Tek and I can take it around the house wherever I need to look. Designer, oscilloscope driver for 45 years. The first scope I used at work was the 475. This is my new standard.
