I was put off by the size at first but it's very easy to use, does a great job with the peel (have only used it for lemon peel so far) - so easy and effortless I can see myself using it easily grate cheese, carrots, etc. I bought this mainly for the plastic protector and didn't pay attention to the size - it's about a foot long and about 2 inches with the protector, but it's worth the extra space it takes up. I also didn't consider the dual purpose of the shield - but when rotated it can hold poles (I probably missed that in the comments/reviews too!) Two thumbs up. 👍👍
