The stand that came with your iMac is not removable. No matter how high I sit at my desk, I still have to throw my head back. I had to specifically order an iMac without a stand and with a VESA mount so I could use my own mount and screen to go down to table level. This stand looks very nice and goes really well with the metal of the iMac. I highly recommend this iMac stand if you want to adjust the height of your monitor. Unfortunately, the IMac has to be ordered with an extra Vesa mount, otherwise you get stuck on the height of the permanent stand (model IMac 2014-5).
