Worked great.
The floor height between my kitchen and living room was low, and the previous owner put a large piece of wood on the windowsill that was easy to trip over. I took the wood paneling off and put some tape on the surface and no more tripping. The tape fits our floor very well. I don't think anyone else will notice there's a tape in there. The wood grain could be better, but still ok.
