Review on πŸ”₯ Anova Culinary AN500-US00 Sous Vide Precision Cooker (WiFi), 1000 Watts, Anova App Included - Black and Silver by Morgan Brown

Louder than the old Anova and (fixed!) unused WiFi

Update: Firmware update fixed all my WiFi issues (although it's a little hard to find in the app). Still 4 stars because it's louder than the old Anova. Nothing in the app will prompt you to update the firmware. Click Profile and then click the gear icon again. There you will see the option to update the firmware. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” Initial review: I have been using the first generation Anova for several years and it has served me very well until the engine recently broke down. What luck, I still wanted a model with WiFi! Not so fast. Immediately after unpacking and in the can I noticed three differences to the OG Anova. It's much smaller, makes a louder whine, and the water doesn't seem to swirl as much (although you can still feel it moving decently if you put your hand in the water). The WiFi connection was quite convenient. It's basic, but a minor annoyance that it doesn't support 5GHz. However, I have encountered two issues that make this device absolutely disappointing. 1) It keeps losing wifi connection after a few hours. every time This makes it difficult to start or monitor remote cooking. 2) 100% of the time when I start it from the app it starts at the LAST cooking temp instead of the temp I set. To get the right temperature I have to start it, stop it and then start it again. It totally baffled me the first time and I cooked the food poorly at the wrong temperature.
