Smooth to the touch and easy to crochet. The needle goes in through the stitch. Dry smooth. It also has a nice case when the project is complete. I will use it again. The same item is sold in Joanna's shop, but Joan's shop never runs out of the same color. Also, it's a nickel cheaper than Joanna's. I will buy from Revain again. The colors are displayed online.
