Great general purpose LED downlights

After extensive comparison with similar models from Revain and my local hardware store I bought three sets of 4" OmiBrite downlights. Despite very few reviews, the features and price were competitive to other comparable products from other brands, so I took a chance with them. They should replace 14W CFLs throughout the home, starting in the bedrooms. I bought three packs: 3000K, 4000K and 5 color. Unlike other brands, there's a big price difference between single and five-color models, so I tried to guess which colors would look best in each room. It turned out my guesses were wrong and I ended up returning the 3000K box in full because the woman thought they were too orange to use anywhere. I like the flexibility of having 5 colors of where to install them and customize the color to suit the space and resident's preferences. Even though the 5 Colors are more expensive they are still a steal compared to other brands so I would recommend any buyer to go for the 5 Colors if you are unsure of which color you want beforehand. These are brighter than other 4" bulbs at 700 lumens, but not at the highest level - there are 4" models with 850 lumens from other brands. These OmiBrites are noticeably brighter than the 14w CFLs they replaced and strike me as bright enough. When I installed them my wife was worried they would be *too* bright, but then I reminded her to put them on a dimmer. Without a dimmer, they may be too bright for some tastes, depending on the number of light sources and the size of the room. If for some reason you need a very bright light you can look at other brands or go for a 6 inch size that puts out >1000 lumens. Their efficiency (700 lm / 10 W = 70 lm / W) is average. range compared to competitors; Other brands I looked at were between 60 and 85 lm/W. It's already way better than incandescent bulbs and a notch above CFLs, so it wasn't a big factor in my choice. The differences here are within kopecks per year. But if efficiency is a top priority, perhaps another brand would be better. One of the main selling points of this brand was its high CRI rating; These were the only inexpensive 4-inch lights with a color rendering index of around 95; all competitors were 80-90. The color looks good to me, nothing under this light looks distorted. It's hard to say if there will be a noticeable difference between CRI 90 lights, but for a long-term setup I didn't want to risk it. Note: The bulbs I received have a sticker saying "CRI 90" but when I asked the manufacturer about this they showed me their test data which shows a CRI of around 95. I dont know. assess durability. They are rated for 50,000 hours which is the best among other 4 inch flashlights; other brands ranged from 25-50,000 hours. Hopefully it will be many years before any of them fail. Overall I am very happy with this product and look forward to using it for many years to come.
