Not for intensive cleaning, not suitable for gourd
This machine was listed as a heavy duty cleaning machine but was not. As soon as I received it, I tried it on a pumpkin that I wanted to peel. It cut well, but the real problem was that it flexed a lot when I applied pressure to peel off the squash's thick, hard skin. It seemed like she was about to break if I continued. I think this will be a great lightweight potato peeler and you will be happy with it. If you don't need a ceramic knife, I think there are better and less expensive ones out there. What I bought as a replacement was a stainless steel knife and is said to be able to peel pumpkins.
