I liked the smaller version of this 2' x 3' so much that I bought two more for two different purposes. The original review of the mat - BELOW - was incomplete as I could not resolve the moisture issue that came from other recycled rubber/tire mats unlike this type. The problem is that I've found mold to collect under other carpets, while the exposed areas of this herringbone pattern allow it to evaporate quickly after the frequent rains that come here in Florida. Another reason I love these rugs. I bought this large 36" x 60" rug in front of my workbench in the garage. I had lighter foam mats for the "fatigue" of standing on cement in the garage. However, after standing on it, although it's definitely stronger, I thought it would be even better, and it is. I like the slotted holes for grabbing debris from woodworking or whatever and I found that they don't stick to surfaces as much so they do an excellent job of grabbing debris. Also, it's very heavy so it doesn't slip around like some foam/fatigue mats I've had. I also bought a 24" x 48" in front of my grill. I have a separate cement pad for grilling that is away from the house and patio. It is on the south side, so it gets a lot of sun. that says something here in florida. I chose this for both anti-fatigue protection and the durability of the mat. I've only used it once, but I'm already seeing another benefit: although it's black/charcoal, it doesn't retain heat in the same way as some of Rubbermaid's other 16" square recycle tire/rubber tiles, that I have had. --------------------- ORIGINAL REVIEW of the first rug I bought --------- ----------- - ----------------------****** First Impressions - Will re-post in a month or two and provide feedback on durability after it's in Florida sun was used. Wow. First impression - HEAVY and durable. Given the quality construction, I suspect I won't be replacing it anytime soon. It was bought for use on the patio next to the road. Sliding door, so it's a location with heavy traffic, daily use, and direct sun. The more decorative rugs I've had in this location are less than half the thickness of this rug, and while they're also made from recycled rubber/tires, they weren't that well constructed and the colors fade quickly (some within a week or two, some as long as three months in Florida). U.N). A thicker herringbone build looks like it will hold up longer against dry rot and crumbling. I suspect this mat will be at least a year old and maybe a few years old! If he sticks around for as long as it seems, he'll be much better off. In the past I have replaced my patio carpet 1-3 times a year for the reasons above. So far (one day) I can already see how the channels trap dirt and debris much better than thinner mats, even those with lots of channels. I think the depth of the channels, in addition to their number, increases their effectiveness. Dogs don't come into the house as often when they go in and out. Thank God. I'll update in a month or two and let you know if it holds up.
