It surprises me sometimes that we still use cigarette adapters in cars to charge our USB powered devices these days. To add insult to injury, there aren't many of those these days. So if you're traveling with a few people, you might run out of space to charge your devices. StarTech sent me this device to give me an honest review, and while this adapter isn't perfect, it's still a great accessory to have on hand. The base unit has a built-in Lightning cable that is recognized as legitimate by iOS devices (this is important as I've had many cables that weren't properly recognized). The cord is a bit short but suitable for those who need a flash in the front seat. A short cord will probably fit the back seat if you have a plug in the back; The cable is not long enough to be pulled front to back. On the plus side, if you don't need a long cord, you don't have to worry about managing a long cord in the front seat. The optional USB port allows you to connect everything you need, e.g. a MicroUSB device or even a Note 3 that uses a USB3 connector. There is an LED on the charger that glows blue when plugged in. It's a bit brighter, so depending on the placement of the plug, it can be a bit annoying at night. In general, a good and useful accessory for the car.
