In general, the mochi set is not bad. I think they are a good deal given the quantity/price/quality in general. We have a pretty good selection, very close to the picture, but unfortunately no octopus (my favourite!), or a sleeping cat or a dolphin. They were individually wrapped. They are nice and soft to the touch! The face paint on most of them was pretty good, but some of them had very small eyes and the shark had about half of its teeth. A couple of stuffed animals kept getting pretty flat squashed so there wasn't much to squash. They have a very low odor. That oily, gummy, petrochemical smell? - but it's not as bad as those sticky hands that come out of gumball machines. The smell can disappear over time. Like these sticky hands and other similar toys, they can leave small oily stains on some surfaces such as walls or paper. They seem pretty smooth right out of the box, but I don't know if they get sticky over time. We have a couple of these that we bought to get more money from a little shop that sells trinkets and toys like this, one of them is tacky and the other isn't. The coloring isn't perfect, but it's better than some of the animals in that bag of mochi we bought from Revain, and they don't smell (but I don't know if that's because we aired them out). longer.) I think any of those mochi stuffed animals you can buy just about anywhere is probably a little hit or miss. If you have to throw away a few squishes due to bugs, you'll get a little less than what you pay for, so there's a lot to consider. I will say that they are pretty cute and the kids are crazy about them. They make a great party favor. All in all a worthwhile purchase.
