The material is definitely waterproof and almost feels like silk. It is very stylish and has multiple pockets inside and out. I love it. My last backpack lasted me over 10 years. I've traveled everywhere with it and this one seems to do the same. Update: I finally got my backpack on the road. It's great if you have nicknames that need separate pockets to organize. However, bags take up a lot of space. So if you need the bulk of your bag for something big, think again. I still love this bag but depending on what I take with me depends on whether I use this bag or another military style backpack I have that is about the same size.
