Bought to make ice for cocktails. I haven't figured out the "exact" amount of water yet and have tried many times to fine tune it. One side of the tray always seems to allow water to pass between the silicone and plastic bases, leaving a scoop or two of ice cream flat. Others tend to be pretty decent, but I always seem to have partial cracks around the ice balls causing them to melt unevenly. a hack that seems to work fine. But when I pour the whiskey over the ice ball, you see a line, usually around the center, that starts to melt much faster than the rest of the surface. When I finish my drink, I usually have an ice cube in the shape of a Star Wars Tie Fighter. Sounds pretty cool, but unfortunately dilutes my drink a little more than I would like. I tried many different things to prevent this, but none of them worked. If you are looking for pure ice cream or a perfectly symmetrical ball of ice cream, then this product is not for you. If you need a relatively inexpensive ice ball solution and don't care if the ice gets a little cloudy or cracks during the freezing process, this works great.
