I've wanted this ice cream spoon for a long time and carefully researched the information about the company and the spoon before buying it. It seemed great and the surface of my old kitchen shovel started to blister and (roughly) peel. I really don't understand what the fuss is about this scoop. The tapered shape of the handle literally guides your hand right into the ice bucket. It's impossible to scoop hard ice without slipping your hand down the barrel of this scoop. I'm grabbing with all my might (Aldi's premium chocolate ice cream is so good but so hard!) Why would they make it cone shaped? If anything, it needs to be thicker towards the bucket and thinner towards the top so you have something that really helps your hand stay in place against pressure. I'm a bit confused to be honest. They've been making them since 1935. I'll use them because I have them, but it's not easy and my knuckles turn to chocolate every time. I think there are worse things.
