Can't comment on weatherproofing as I use them indoors but now I have about 3. One broke and I had to return it but no problems and the exchange worked fine. One device was installed at a thrift store where we keep it above the front door with one bell about 30 feet away and the other about half a block four walls away. In both cases, the bells worked well, and the triple batteries in the sensor seemed to last for months without replacement. I think it was almost a year before I had to do it. The second block was housed in a church building that was much smaller. Aside from having to return a defective unit, the replacement worked flawlessly for several months. Now I'm thinking about getting one for my house just as a cheap way to have a security system. There were very few false alerts, and I attribute them to things like leaves and swaying signs that could knock out the laser.
