Having read some of the other reviews, I am treating this container carefully since reviewers have called it fragile. I therefore use it for longest-term storage, filling it all the way (at first) with valuable macadamia nuts and using a smaller and sturdier "TightVac" container for frequently used loads that last for about two weeks. When my TightVac supply is used up, I open this container and transfer another load, and reseal this one, loving the fact that the plunger goes down farther and thus keeps the remaining supply quite airtight. I push this to the back of the refrigerator where it securely keeps my nuts the freshest possible. It makes a very satisfying sound of air being pushed out, and my nuts have retained their freshness even after months of storage.
