I'm hesitating between 3 and 4 stars for this jersey. All in all the job is done and my hamsters love running through the upper floors and their favorite place to eat is in the small bowl at the top that came with the topper (don't know why but they both really prefer to eat from that one over there). Since I have two sisters in the same cage, they never have to be around unless they want to, and that reduces any aggression between them (although there was almost none to begin with). This gives them a lot more space and they can now run around on the ferris wheel and burrow into their tank's nesting area, giving them plenty of room to run. If they could rate this topper they would absolutely give it a five out of five. But as a concerned pet owner, there are a few things I don't like snuggling with. First, the network is pretty weak. I think if the hamster was properly attuned it could either gnaw through them or slip through. I would categorically avoid placing Roborowskis in this tank and topper combo because they can absolutely slide their tiny bodies through the bars since the bars move so easily. As an aside I have two little Campbell sisters who love this setup and they are both too big to stick their noses out fully. I'm not worried at all about them running away. Well, if you have a pet escape master, the crossbars are too flimsy and the top opening comes off too easily to be safely placed. Second, cleaning is quite difficult. Not the topper itself, but the cleaning process of the topper. In order to get the wheel, houses, or bottom food bowl out, I have to take the entire top off and put it somewhere to do something with the bottom. I'm used to it as they love to piss on their bike and I have to clean it every other day but I always get sheets and poop all over the place when I put the topper on. This is very inconvenient because now I have to put the towel down, remove the lid and wash the towel every time I need to get to the bottom of the tank, even if it's just to fill a bowl with food. Number three and probably the most annoying thing is that the water bottle doesn't work at all. I had a bottle that came with a topper set inside the tank. My hamsters used it a lot until I noticed they were trying a lot more than they should. They bit him, pulled him, and even hit him with their paws, but nothing came of it. They had it for several days, and although I saw them drinking from it, the water level stayed the same, meaning they didn't get any water from it. That day I got them a new bottle of water and put it in and they frantically drank from it like they had never drunk water before. I felt so bad and felt like I had let them down so I immediately stopped using the topper and just used the one I got from Walmart and they are properly hydrated now. As I am endangering my hamsters life I have to give this product 0 stars but the topper itself is a good product and my hamsters are enjoying it a lot now as they are not dehydrated so I can give this product between 3 and 4 stars . I will contact the company and ask for a replacement bottle.
