I have a UAG case on my Surface Pro and the only way to keep the film from peeling off permanently is to cut it off . slightly down on all sides. I have a paper cutter so it was easy enough to make and keep straight, but it can be tricky with scissors or a razor/ruler. This leaves very little bevel on the film, making perfect sealing a potential future problem. The time will show. Otherwise, the installation is no more or less complicated than all these things. One would hope that it is stuck to the screen and not the film, as it is difficult to remove from the film. The finish is nice, it reduces glare as mentioned elsewhere. It definitely changes the feel of the pen. I personally think there is more resistance than pencil on paper.
