I recently spoke to a friend of mine who asked me if I would give my chickens extra calcium. I asked her how can I do this? I can't feed her dairy etc and she mentioned clams. I know you can boil chicken egg shells and then shred them up and feed them to chickens, but I didn't know that oyster shells are a great way to give them the calcium they need to keep nice, firm eggshells. If you notice your eggs are thin, the ovaries most likely need extra calcium. I've been feeding them to my chickens for about a week and have noticed an immediate difference in their shell stability. They only peck at him when they know they need him. Mine are constantly pecking at oyster shells, which means they definitely need extra calcium. It comes in a small pouch, a little goes a long way and is great quality. Would buy again. Highly recommended
