Bought this radio to replace my original cassette deck/radio in my 1996 Ford Explorer. I bought a Metra fitment kit but never used it and didn't have to trim the dash or anything else. The radio tape recorder sits very firmly in the dashboard without a mounting kit. At first I had no sound. I didn't realize my Explorer had a factory built-in amplifier, so I had to tie the fuse to one of the original pins on the Explorer's power connector (solid blue - Ford's diagram says it's Logic Mute). This activated the amp and the tone started. I have to bypass the amp because the lowest volume setting is still louder than it should be, but that's not the radio's fault. The GPS antenna is operated by mounting it above the radio and under the dashboard (inside the ventilation shaft). Offline navigation works fine after preloading maps. I even downloaded the Xfinity radio streaming app and was able to watch live TV using my phone as a hotspot. Also downloaded are Spotify and Pandora, which also work.
